Client's Request
The client required a software solution that could simulate Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the 6th Dimension (Sustainability). The aim was to provide accurate carbon footprint calculations and energy consumption predictions for a given model, both before and during construction, as well as during its operational years.
Here’s What We Did
Our team developed the DAR BIM6D software using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, React.js, and Node.js) to create a robust platform for BIM modeling. The software was divided into two key functionalities: 1. Carbon Footprint Calculation and Prediction: We implemented features to estimate the environmental impact of a building model throughout the construction process. 2. Energy Consumption Calculation and Prediction: We developed tools to forecast the energy usage of a building model during its operational lifetime. For efficient data handling and real-time updates, we integrated Speckle and RabbitMQ to ensure smooth communication between the frontend and backend. Additionally, DevOps practices were employed to optimize deployment and maintenance processes.

The DAR BIM6D software allows users to accurately simulate and predict a building’s carbon footprint and energy consumption, contributing to more sustainable construction practices. The platform enables architects, engineers, and contractors to make informed decisions that align with environmental sustainability goals.
