The client approached us with a request to migrate their existing postcard and gifting store from a custom Ruby-based backend to Shopify. They needed not only a seamless transition but also a flexible solution to support highly customized product experiences. The main challenges we were asked to solve:

• Smooth migration to Shopify: Move all store functionality and user data from the Ruby backend to a scalable Shopify setup
• Custom product builder: Enable users to personalize products like Boomf Bombs and marshmallows with photos, messages, and formats
• Private Shopify app: Build an internal app to manage complex logic for the product constructor and support the personalized gifting workflow

We led the full migration process and built a tailored private Shopify app to support the unique gifting experience Boomf is known for. Implemented solutions included:

• Custom Shopify app development: Created a private app that powers the personalized product constructor and handles dynamic product logic
• Backend integration & data migration: Ensured a secure and efficient transfer of data from the previous Ruby infrastructure to Shopify
• Frontend logic & UX alignment: Worked closely with the client’s visual team to preserve and optimize the user journey from card selection to checkout

The result is a robust Shopify-based store that supports a playful and customizable shopping experience at scale.
