Client's Request
Our client aimed to launch a public Shopify app as a standalone business to sell to other e-commerce stores. The app would provide product reservation functionality, allowing stores to enhance their customer experience by enabling shoppers to create, edit, and reserve their carts for future purchases. The client needed a scalable, reliable solution to attract Shopify merchants looking to offer this added convenience to their customers.
Here’s What We Did
Our team developed SmartCarts, a public Shopify app designed to enhance the shopping journey with advanced cart reservation functionality. We built a robust system where customers can save their carts for future purchases, minimizing the risk of losing out on items due to stock availability. We used Nest.js for the backend to ensure scalability and reliability. On the frontend, we implemented React with Polaris for a modern and responsive user interface. We also integrated Postgres and Mongo databases to handle product data and user interactions efficiently. Additionally, we used JavaScript, Liquid, and WebSockets to create a theme app extension that keeps the cart updated in real-time.
Here’s the Result
The app provided an intuitive experience for Shopify merchants, allowing them to offer their customers the ability to reserve carts, boosting customer satisfaction and conversion rates. With this app, users could also revisit their saved items, improving cart retention and decreasing abandoned carts.
